For me painting is a freedom. It is a release. I work with palette
knife, thick oil paint or big brushes. I love colour and texture. I
think maybe it is where I am in my life. I have time to dream and to
escape from reality into an unknown place even sometimes to me.
If I get upset it is in the painting. If I am excited its also in the
painting. If I paint outdoors on sunny summer days the feeling of
the sun, the heat, the beauty of what I am looking at whether it be
nature or scenery is in the painting.
Over the years I have studied with various esteemed artists such
as Renard Goulet, Kenneth Webb, Clare Cryan, Anne Talintyre and
Juan OPerez. More recently, I studied life drawing and portraits in
NCAD.
When I paint I forget time and place. I love to create passionate
surfaces that are visually intriguing and mysterious with
impressive colours and shapes.
